Barely three days after the inauguration of eight newly appointed mandate secretaries for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), natives of the FCT, like Oliver Twist are asking for more mandate secretaries.

The FCT Federal Commissioner of Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Amb. Jacob Ayuba Ngbako described President Bola Tinubu as an Icon of democracy for respecting the judgment of the court and ensuring that a minister is appointed from among the indigenous of the FCT.

Ngbako said that now they have a native as one of the ministers, and there are presently eight mandate secretaries,  but they expect President Tinubu to give them 20 mandate secretaries, instead of eight.

“Now we have eight mandate secretaries, but I will know that is not enough because the mandate secretaries have to come from one of each area council at least and then there will be at least one from geopolitical zones who are practicing politicians, who will worked for APC in the last election.

“So, we know President Tinubu is going to give us an additional 12 mandate secretaries to make 20 mandate secretaries. So everybody should be calm and see how Mr. President we will bring operational guidelines towards equal rights and justice for every Nigerian,” he said.

The FCT federal commissioner further said that they also look forward to having a native of Abuja become the Chief of Staff/Secretary of  FCTA.

The commissioner while speaking on the FCT minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike said that there is a need for the minister to have a meeting with stakeholders of the All Progressives Party (APC) in the FCT, who would advice him on how to govern the people in the territory.

“We know how energetic our minister is. However, I think the minister in as much as he wants to provide the renewed hope agenda. So, he should have a meeting with stakeholders who may be state actors or non-state actors.

“He should be aware that we have a party structure in the FCT, the APC has the party structure. So, he needs to know if perhaps, the party structure has made some promises to the people before the election. So that he does not go contrary to the party structure.

“However, I know that there is still the opportunity for him to meet with state actors and non-state actors. What I mean by state actors, these states are people who are in government.

“He should be able to meet with a federal Commissioner who is from FCT, he should be able to meet with the National Assembly members that are from the FCT,” he said.

Ngbako also advised the FCT minister to establish the FCT State Assembly, where Chairmen and their committee members in the National Assembly can meet to deliberate on things that bother FCT natives and residents and present it before the National Assembly during plenary.
