One of Africa’s foremost chiropractic physicians and founder of Nova Wellness Centre, Dr Naa Asheley Ashietey, is being celebrated for her enduring contributions to healthcare, philanthropy, and holistic healing.

Speaking on her motivation, Ashietey said her journey into chiropractic care began as a personal mission to help her brother who suffered from severe asthma. “That pursuit opened a door not just for him, but for thousands more who live with chronic pain and mobility issues,” she said.

Trained in the United States and Canada, Ashietey returned to Ghana over 15 years ago to establish a centre that combines international medical standards with African values of dignity and empathy. “Coming home was a deliberate decision to make world-class care accessible to my people,” she said.

Today, Nova Wellness Centre operates in both Accra and Kumasi, offering chiropractic care to a wide range of patients—from stroke survivors and children with disabilities to executives and traders. According to Ashietey, “Many of our clients come after trying everything else. We meet them with hope, and they leave with healing.”

Beyond her clinical work, Ashietey has extended her impact through philanthropy. “Healthcare must go hand in hand with humanity,” she said. She supports orphanages, funds the education of underprivileged children, and provides free treatment and support for women in vulnerable conditions, including market head porters, known locally as kaya yei.

Describing her approach to care, Ashietey noted that clinical skill must be paired with human warmth. “Healing begins the moment someone knows they’re being heard,” she said. Her staff also describe her as a hands-on leader who fosters a culture of empathy, respect, and excellence.

As a mentor and wellness advocate, Ashietey uses her platform to inspire young African women in healthcare and entrepreneurship. “We need more women not just in medicine, but leading movements for health and dignity,” she said.

Her belief is rooted in simplicity: “When the body is aligned, the spirit can thrive.”

As she marks another year of life, Ashietey said she remains committed to expanding access to holistic, dignified care across the continent. “This is bigger than me. It’s about building systems that serve people—body, mind and soul.”

Ashietey’s legacy, she insisted, is not just in the treatments she offers but in the lives transformed by the power of compassion and science working together.
