A senatorial aspirant for Enugu East, Hon. Jeph Afam Ogbodo, under the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC) has pledged to end what he described as an era of silent representation.
At an interactive town hall meeting held recently at Akegb-Ugwu, his home town ,Ogbodo addressed a cross-section of constituents, traditional rulers and youth leaders. He assured them that his tenure in the Senate would be marked by a strong, vocal presence and a relentless pursuit of the zone’s interests.
Ogbodo directly confronted concerns about legislative inactivity, Ogbodo said, “I am not going to Abuja to occupy a seat for the sake of decorum or to be a spectator in the hallowed chambers. I will not sleep in the Senate. I am going there to be the wake-up call for the development of Enugu East. Our people have waited too long for a voice that truly reflects their struggles, and I am ready to be that voice.”
The aspirant said the primary responsibility of a lawmaker is to serve as a bridge between local needs and national resources, adding that the era of politicians returning home only during election cycles must end.
He promised to establish functional constituency offices to ensure continuous engagement and feedback.
Ogbodo outlined a legislative agenda built on three core pillars: economic empowerment through targeted vocational funding, infrastructure advocacy for neglected federal corridors within the zone, and the sponsorship of bills to protect the agricultural interests of the Nkanu people and the broader Enugu East constituency.
“Representation is a sacred trust,” he said. “When a senator sleeps, the dreams of the people suffer. When a senator is silent, the grievances of constituents are ignored. I am offering a new deal—one rooted in visibility, accountability, and tangible results. We will ensure that our share of national resources is not only discussed but delivered.”
