The Nigerian Dental Therapists’ Association (NDTA) has lamented the abrupt locking of the Registrar/CEO’s office at the Dental Therapists Registration Board of Nigeria (DThRBN).

It noted that since the retirement of the past registrar on February 28, 2025, the board’s activities have come to a standstill. New members have not been registered, licences have not been issued, and regulatory duties have been on hold.

National secretary of the association, Comrade Anugwor Chinedu, made the lamentation in a press release he issued to LEADERSHIP yesterday.

According to him, the development caused some professionals to lose out on promotions and employment due to delayed licences.

He also expressed deep concerns over the alleged marginalisation in the appointment of the Registrar/CEO of the Dental Therapists Registration Board of Nigeria (DThRBN).

The position, he claimed has been dominated by individuals from a single geopolitical zone for over three decades, sparking fears of polarisation and resentment among members from other zones.

He urged immediate action to restore the board’s functionality and ensure a fair process for appointing a new registrar.

“The NDTA called on the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. M. Ali Pate, and the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Ishaq Adekunle Salako, to intervene in the matter,” the statement read.
