The Association of Nigerian Imams, led by its national chairman, Sheikh Mohammad Nasiru Adam, has convened in Yobe State to offer supplications and special prayers for Nigeria and its leaders.
Addressing journalists at the gathering, the association’s Assistant General Secretary, Dr Yusuf Abdullahi Yusuf, acknowledged the challenges of security and economic hardship facing Northern Nigeria and the nation at large.
He described the prayer session as vital, noting that while human efforts have fallen short, divine intervention remains the surest path to safety and good governance.
“We use this channel to remain in seclusion and reflect, to constantly pray for God’s assistance for our beloved nation,” he said.
In a remark, the Yobe State Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Ethical Reorientation, Hon. Yusuf Umar, stressed that Nigeria is the only nation citizens have, urging all leaders and citizens to prioritise prayer for lasting peace.
The Chief Imam of Yobe Mosque and Islamic Centre, Damaturu, Sheikh Hudu Mohammad Yusuf, said the association’s aim is to raise awareness for fervent prayer, guide leaders toward justice, and strengthen ties among imams across states.
The gathering concluded with a national prayer for the country, its government, and leaders.
