Aston Villa held off a late Tottenham Hotspur fightback to secure a thrilling 3-2 victory in their Premier League clash on Saturday.
Villa took control in first-half stoppage time when J. Manzambi opened the scoring in the 49th minute, with B. Kamara providing the assist.
Tottenham struggled to find a response after the break and Villa doubled their advantage through Nicolas Jackson in the 67th minute, with Manzambi turning provider.
The visitors appeared to have the contest under control when Emiliano BuendÃa made it 3-0 in the 79th minute after being set up by John McGinn.
Tottenham, however, produced a late surge to set up a tense finish.
Conor Gallagher pulled one back in the 86th minute, with Mohammed Kudus supplying the assist.
The hosts then reduced the deficit to one in the eighth minute of added time when J. P. van Hecke found the net following an assist from Andy Robertson.
Despite Tottenham’s late pressure, Villa survived the remaining moments to claim all three points.
The result leaves Tottenham with two goals to show for their late rally, while Villa’s three-goal haul proved decisive in a dramatic five-goal encounter.
