Governor of Bauchi State Bala Mohammed has issued an eight-week timeline for the Visitation Panel to submit its report on lingering industrial matters fueling strike action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities at the Sa’adu Zungur University.

LEADERSHIP reports that the panel was asked to look at other sundry issues pertinent to the university, such as financial operations, and develop a framework and strategy for effective and harmonious operations.

Speaking at the panel’s inauguration, Governor Mohammed urged the panel members to leverage their expertise to achieve meaningful results. He explained that his decision to constitute the panel was necessitated by events in the institution, which are undoubtedly hampering effective and efficient teaching and learning.

He said that education, as the bedrock of any meaningful development, informed his administration’s decision to always pay full attention to the all-important sector as required.

The governor asked members of the panel to devise measures to tackle and eradicate all of the various challenges facing the institution, particularly the not-too-good relationship between the ASUU, NASU, and the Management, in spite of his personal intervention to return sanity to the institution.

The chairperson of the panel, Prof. Gambo Laraba, commended Governor Mohammed for finding them worthy to serve the state in that capacity.
