Prominent Muslim scholars and notable politicians last Thursday cautioned the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress( APC) across ward, local government and the state working committee in Kwara State against betraying Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The speakers include the Imam Ipata Oloje, Sheikh AbdulKadir Almustapha Alahanpe, the zonal missioner of NASFAT, Alh Abdullahi Alaya; two prominent grassroots politicians, Alh Usman Bibire Ajape and Hon. AbdulLateef Gidado Alakawa.

They spoke at the opening of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Ramadan Lecture Series, held at the A.G.F AbdulRazaq family residence, Surulere, Ilorin. The lecture has ” Which Allah’s  Favour Will You Deny” as its theme.

The speakers took turns to remind those recently affirmed as the APC executives across the wards, local governments and the state working committee of the need for them to reciprocate the governor’s magnanimity .

The first lecturer, Alh Abdullahi Alaya went down the memory lane and recalled how helpful the patriarch and matriarch of the AbdulRazaq family – the late AGF AbdulRazaq( SAN) and his wife, Alhaja Raliat, were to anyone that came their way since early 60s .

He emphasised that service to the community and the people was the hallmark of the AbdulRazaq family, praising Governor AbdulRazaq for sustaining the family ‘s legacy of generosity and kindness.

The second lecturer, Sheikh AbdulKadir Alahanpe, hailed Governor AbdulRazaq for revolutionalising the basic  education sector through the establishment of – smart schools and deployment of computers for teaching and learning in the public schools.

The fierce preacher noted that the Owo Arugbo scheme has made life a lot easier for the old people, adding that : ” This government transfers money to the old people as against the old practice of asking the elderly to line up to collect stipends.”

Sheikh Alahanpe also eulogised the governor for eradicating political thuggery to the applause of the attendees.

He added that the governor’s financial prudency has brought about unprecedented infrastructural development across the state.

” I therefore urge the political appointees and party ‘s leadership to emulate Governor AbdulRazaq’s simplicity,  humility and prudence . Don’t betray the governor. Follow him to wherever he’s going as he has helped all of you and has taken the state to  greater heights,” he said.

During the second lecture on Sunday, the national missioner of Ansar-ud- Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh AbdulRahman Ahmad stressed the need for the Ilorin elites to always rally round any of their kith and kin who Allah has made a leader at a particular time.

He said such support for the one that Allah has chosen as a leader is necessary, not only to sustain the legacies of the founder of Ilorin, Sheikh Alimi, but to ensure the growth of the community.

Sheikh Ahmad made the call while delivering a lecture titled” Uncommon blessings of the month of Ramadan” in the ongoing AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Ramadan lecture series.

The Ilorin – born cleric recalled how the elites constituted themselves as opponents to the late Admiral Mohammed Lawal, the late General AbdulKareem Adisa and Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki.

He charged the elites and the entire Ilorin Emirate indigenes to rally round the incumbent governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who he described as a performer and proud son of Ilorin.

Sheikh Ahmad sought Allah’s continued guidance for Governor AbdulRazaq and prayed that he achieves successes in all ramifications at end of his tenure.
