Experts in the education sector have stressed the need for institutions to embrace the use of technology to address their current challenges.

They made the call at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Education Summit organised by Huawei with the theme: “New Approaches in Meeting Educational Expectations.”

The meeting had in attendance vice-chancellors, directors of academic planning as well as directors of ICT, rectors and provosts of the selected institutions, government ministries, regulatory agencies, international bodies and Huawei partners.

The executive secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, who delivered the keynote speech titled: “Reinventing Education To Meet Expectations,” commended Huawei for creating the platform for experts to come together and address challenges facing the academic community.

Rasheed who was represented by the deputy executive secretary, Administration, NUC, Dr Chris Maiyaki, said universities must continually strive for the ultimate objective of ensuring quality teaching, and research to be able to bring about the much-needed community impact.
