The African Democratic Congress (ADC) yesterday released its updated lists of its Convention Committee and Subcommittees ahead of its forthcoming national convention.

While former Cross Rivers State governor, Liyel Imoke, is chairman of the committee, and former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, is his deputy, the committee comprises top party leaders and contenders for the presidential ticket.

They are former vice president, Atiku Abubakar; Peter Obi; Rotimi Amaechi; Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; Chief John Odigie-Oyegun; Abubakar Malami; Prof Pat Utomi.

Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is also in the list, alongside Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Achike Udenwa, Kashim Ibrahim Imam, among others.n

The list was released in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, who said the updated list is aimed at strengthening coordination and ensuring a smooth and credible convention.

The ADC urged all committee members to discharge their responsibilities with diligence and called on stakeholders to support the process.

The development comes amid ongoing internal leadership tensions within the party and a standoff with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC had earlier derecognised the David Mark-led ADC national leadership pending the resolution of court cases, with hearing dates coinciding with the scheduled convention.

Despite these challenges, the ADC has reiterated its determination to proceed with its congresses and national convention as part of efforts to reposition and strengthen its structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a related development, the Mark-led ADC congratulated the newly elected State Executives and Chairmen across the federation, following the successful conduct of its state congresses.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party described the exercise as peaceful and in line with its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and the rule of law.

The party announced that the inauguration of the newly elected officials has been scheduled for May 12, 2026, noting that a later date may be communicated by the National Working Committee if necessary.

According to the statement, the congresses were conducted in compliance with relevant laws and the party’s constitution, reflecting what it called the ADC’s enduring democratic culture.

The party commended its members and stakeholders for their orderly conduct during the process, stating that their actions demonstrated maturity, discipline, and a shared commitment to the party’s growth.

It also urged the newly elected officials to remain dedicated to the party’s ideals and vision as they prepare to assume office.

The ADC further called on them to align with the leadership direction of its National Chairman, David Mark, as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s structures nationwide.

“The task ahead requires unity, discipline, and a continued commitment to building a strong and credible alternative for the Nigerian people,” the statement read.

The party expressed confidence that under the leadership of the new state executives, it would continue to expand its reach, deepen its grassroots structures, and strengthen its connection with citizens across the country.

The ADC concluded by reiterating its commitment to democratic principles and congratulated the new officials on their emergence.
