Atiku’s Aide Urges DSS To Question Sunday Igboho Over Oyo School Abduction Claims

Media aide to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to invite Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, for questioning over his claims regarding the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Ibe made the call in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, arguing that if Igboho truly possesses information about those behind the kidnappings, security agencies should engage him to aid ongoing rescue efforts.

His reaction followed claims by Igboho during a meeting with members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, where he alleged that he knew the politicians behind the abductions and warned he would expose them if the incidents continued.

According to Ibe, all available avenues must be explored to ensure the safe release of abducted students and teachers, insisting that any credible information should be taken seriously by security agencies.

“Since Sunday Igboho claims to know those behind the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State, I think that the State Security Service (SSS) and other security agencies need to invite him to release those names to them,” he wrote.

“Every option should be on the table to fast track the safe release of the school children and teachers.”

Ibe also raised concerns over the reported abduction of more than 50 schoolchildren in Mussa, Borno State, on May 15, 2026, questioning what he described as the federal government’s silence on the incident.

He asked whether the same level of attention given to incidents in Oyo State would be extended to victims in Borno, and urged the government to ensure equal response to all security emergencies across the country.

“Why is Tinubu and his government mute over the Borno abduction? Are those school children not Nigerians?” he asked.

The Atiku aide also called for stronger preventive security measures, including the deployment of forest guards in vulnerable states, stressing that government intervention should not only follow attacks but also prevent them.
