In a bid to counter the adverse effects of the recent fuel subsidy removal in Nigeria, Autolady Engineering Technology Limited, through its subsidiary Autogas Nigeria, has announced plans to train 1000 technicians and non-technicians across the country on converting petrol vehicles to gas-powered engines.

This move is aimed at providing a more affordable alternative for motorists facing rising fuel costs.

The comprehensive training program seeks to empower technicians with the necessary skills in safe autogas conversion using Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG).

The initiative also aligns with the government’s Autogas policy and its 2060 Net-zero carbon reduction agenda, with hopes that cars running on gas will significantly mitigate climate change impacts by 2030.

By encouraging the adoption of gas-powered vehicles, the training initiative aims to reduce the dependency on petrol/diesel vehicles and, consequently, combat the challenges posed by the National Gas Expansion Program (NGEP).

Autogas conversion is considered a viable step towards achieving the NGEP’s objectives and, in turn, supporting the government’s climate change mitigation targets.

Acknowledging the high cost of conversion, Autolady Engineering Technology Limited appeals to the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) to collaborate and provide support for their training initiative.

Their goal is to minimize the cost of training technicians and provide affordable conversion kits for the average Nigerians, thereby making autogas vehicles more accessible to the public.
