The hosts, Nigeria’s Customs Service Women Volleyball Team, will face off against the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) volleyball club in the Round of 16 of the ongoing African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship (AWVCC) in Abuja.
The Customs Ladies advanced to the knockout stage of the tournament after a commanding victory in their opening match, where they defeated Mayo Kane Evolution (MKE) of Cameroon 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-22). However, they suffered losses in their last two games against Carthage of Tunisia and APR of Rwanda.
Conversely, KCB won their first two matches but fell to Al Ahly of Egypt 3-2 in their most recent encounter.
Nigeria’s other representative, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Spikers, will battle Litto Volleyball Club of Cameroon for a place in the quarter-finals of the championship.
CNS began their campaign with a straight-sets victory of 3-0 over Botswana’s Spikers and Spiking Stars. However, they were unable to replicate this success in their last two games against Zamalek and Kenya Prisons.
In other Round of 16 fixtures, Club Omnisports Descartes of Côte d’Ivoire will take on the reigning champions, Zamalek of Egypt, while APR will square off against La Loi of DR Congo.
Additionally, Carthage of Tunisia will face Senegal’s Sococim, and Al Ahly will take on Mayo Kane Evolution of Cameroon.
Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) will go head-to-head against Spikers and Spiking Stars (SSV) of Botswana, while Kenya Prisons will tackle Police Rwanda.
The fixtures for the Round of 16 of the 2025 CAVB Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship commence tomorrow, Tuesday, 8th April, at the Indoor Sports Halls of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
