Niger State governor Umaru Bago has condoled with the emir of Suleja, Mallam Muhammadu Awwal Ibrahim over the demise of chief imam of Suleja Central Mosque, Sheikh Dahiru Shu’aibu.

Bago was at the Emir’s Palace in Suleja for the condolence visit yesterday where he prayed for the deceased.

While praying for the repose of the soul of the departed, the governor enjoined the people of the Emirate to accept whatever Allah has permitted to happen.

The Emir of Suleja, Mallam Muhammadu Awwal Ibrahim, described the late chief imam as a peace-loving personality and a bridge-builder.

He said the deceased contributed his quota to the development of the emirate and the state.

The emir said Sheikh Shu’aibu was among the finest Islamic scholars in the emirate and he will be missed for his selflessness, commitment and dedication to whatever duty that was assigned to him.

Shu’aibu was a retired Sharia Court judge, who served in Suleja, Tafa Gurara, Paikoro and Bida local government areas as a judge of the Sharia Court.

Born on October 16, 1958 in Suleja local government area, Shu’aibu established Mahmud Sabo Muslim School and authored many Islamic books written in Arabic and Hausa.

He also served in different committees including the chairman of Niger State Quranic Recitation Competition for the period of four years and a member of the Zakkah Committee in Suleja Council.

The deceased was appointed as the Salanke Zazzau Suleja in 2001 and was elevated to chief imam of Suleja in 2017 after the demise of the then imam, Mallam Dantani. Shu’aibu died a few hours after his return from Saudi Arabia.

Similarly, Bago commiserated with the emir over the demise of his nephew, Mallam Jibrin Inuwa.

Prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for Allah to comfort the people of the emirate.
