Former chief upstream investment officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Dr Bala Wunti, has been appointed the chief executive officer of the World Energy Council (WEC) Nigeria.
The appointment has been welcomed by the management and members of the Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO), who described it as a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s energy sector.

The chief executive Officer of BWSO, Malam Muktar Jarmajo, congratulated Dr Wunti, the founder of the organisation on his new role.

Jarmajo in a statement yesterday said the appointment reflects Wunti’s exceptional leadership, extensive industry experience and unwavering commitment to advancing sustainable energy development in Nigeria.

The statement signed by organisation’s public relations officer, Kamal Ibrahim, Jarmajo said the decision to entrust Wunti with the leadership of WEC Nigeria demonstrates confidence in his strategic vision, innovative approach and proven ability to drive excellence within the energy industry.

He expressed confidence that Wunti’s appointment would strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global energy landscape while advancing the country’s energy transition and sustainable development agenda.

His wealth of experience and commitment to excellence position him to lead the World Energy Council Nigeria to greater accomplishments while supporting the nation’s energy transition and sustainable development goals,” Jarmajo stated.

The organisation further noted that the appointment highlights the growing recognition of competent, innovative and forward-looking leadership as a catalyst for national development.

It added that Wunti’s new position would provide a broader platform for him to contribute to Nigeria’s energy security, attract investment, promote economic growth, and accelerate the country’s transition to a more sustainable energy future.

BWSO also prayed for Almighty Allah to grant Wunti good health, wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as he assumes the new responsibility.

The organisation reaffirmed its unwavering support for its founder and expressed optimism that his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the World Energy Council Nigeria would have a transformative impact on the nation’s energy sector while enhancing Nigeria’s standing within the global energy community.
