Bandits have abducted three members of a family in Kyauta community at Millennium City in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, in a fresh wave of attacks that has heightened fears among residents.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the assailants stormed the community around midnight on Monday, firing sporadic gunshots to scare residents before whisking away five persons.

The secretary of the local Joint Task Force (JTF), Abuammar Abdullahi, said the attackers fled into a nearby bush shortly after the operation.

He disclosed that residents, in collaboration with JTF members who swiftly mobilised, trailed the suspects and apprehended one of them.

According to him, an elderly woman among the victims later identified the suspect as one of the kidnappers, after which he was handed over to security personnel.

Sources said three of the victims, two boys and their aunt remain in captivity.

In a related development, bandits also abducted 13 persons in Kallah community, Kajuru Local Government Area of the State.

The chairman of the Kajuru Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, Mr. Alipiri Adoh, who confirmed the incident, said the attackers invaded the community and took the victims to an unknown destination.

The latest incidents have further heightened concerns over rising insecurity in Kaduna State.

Residents have continued to call for intensified security presence and proactive measures to curb the persistent attacks.

All efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Command for comments proved abortive, as the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, did not respond to several phone calls and text messages as at press time.
