Suspected bandits have attacked four communities and villages in Jega local government area of Kebbi State.

The affected communities include Jandutse, Alelu, Kimba and Fagada, as well as several other villages in the area.

Although the police have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, a source in the area confirmed to LEADERSHIP that the bandits attacked residents in the communities at night while they were asleep.

The source said several people were affected in the attacks, which reportedly took place in different locations across the local government area.

Governor Nasir Idris, who expressed anger and concern over the incident, led government officials and security personnel to the affected communities and villages, where he sympathised with the victims.

During the visit, Idris assured residents of his administration’s determination to intensify efforts to strengthen the state’s security architecture.

The governor said his administration was working closely with heads of security agencies to address the security challenges confronting communities in Jega and other local government areas of the state.

Idris expressed deep concern over the attacks and assured residents that the government would continue to take measures to protect lives and property.

On behalf of the affected communities, the District Head of Jandutse, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar, thanked the governor and his team for the prompt visit and expression of sympathy.

He assured the governor that residents would not hesitate to report suspicious activity by unfamiliar persons in their communities to security agencies.
