Youths in Borgu kingdom comprising Agwara and Borgu local government areas of Niger State have claimed that seven villages and towns have been burnt down by bandits while several people from the Emirates were still  held captive by the criminals.

The president of the Youth Association of Borgu Kingdom, Comrade Abdullahi Yahaya Saudaki, told a news conference over the weekend that the worsening insecurity was affecting more communities across Borgu Kingdom.”

He said, “The destruction caused by this insecurity has been enormous. Lives have been lost, many families have been displaced over seven villages and towns totally burnt down, some of which are Konkoso, Kasuwan Daji, Pissa, Gangale, Woro, Tungan Makeri, Old Gangale, Boiya, Bakinba and  Wawa.”

Saudaki said farmlands have been abandoned thereby disrupting  agricultural activities while  businesses have suffered, and the local economy has been severely disrupted.

He lamented further “Children are unable to attend school safely only schools in New Bussa and environs are opened while others remained closed since January, 2026. Healthcare services are totally halted. Many residents now live in constant fear of attacks and violence”.

“On behalf of the youths of Borgu Kingdom, I make a passionate call on the Federal Government, led by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Jagaban Borgu, the Farmer Governor Umar Mohammed Bago, The Executive Governor of Niger State, security agencies, and all relevant authorities to take immediate and decisive action to restore security of lives and properties in Borgu Kingdom,” he appealed.

Saudaki  called  for increased security coverage  of  Dekara, Kibgera, Kabe/Pissa, Konkoso/Shafaci, Mago/Kasabu, Agwara/Kokoli, Gallah/Papiri, Shagunu, Swashi/Nassarawa among others as well as  improve intelligence gathering for better protection of the rural communities.
