Bandits Kill 3, Abduct 130 In Zamfara

Three persons have been killed and 130 civilians abducted when bandits unleashed terror on Goran Namaye community in Maradun local government area of Zamfara State.

A resident in the area identified as Salisu Lawali told our correspondent via telephone that the bandits besieged the town at around 1:00 am on Thursday operating from house to house.

Lawali further hinted that the kidnapped persons were mainly women and some of men, confirming also the killing of three people during the invasion.

“As I speak to you, many of our people were missing and we lost three of our men to this tragic incident,” he said.

The resident also added that the bandits came in large number on motorcycles with heavy weapons and surrounded the town before attacking the people.

“They came in a large number and surrounded the whole town while some began house to house operations and chased our people mainly women into the bush,” he added.

Lawali called on federal and state governments to come to the rescue of the abducted persons saying, ‘I wish to call on federal and Zamfara State government to deploy security personnel to the area in order to trace the hideout of these terrorists and rescue our people as we don’t have anything to pay for ransom.”

Security agencies in the state have not issued a statement regarding the attack as at the time of filing this report.
