A resident of Jere, Yahuza Alhassan, who disclosed this yesterday, said that the incident happened around 9:33 pm on Sunday at Dogon-Fili, a few kilometers away from Jere town.

He said the deceased was returning from a neighbouring village market when the bandits suddenly surfaced from the bush and opened fire on the car, killing the driver instantly.

Alhassan identified one of the victims abducted as Shuaibu, also a farmer, adding that the bandits took away about N1 million cash from him before whisking him away to an unknown destination.

According to Alhassan “The bandits after killing the driver went after the man, who is also a farmer, and collected N980,000 cash from him before they took him away alongside one other person in the car into the bush.”

LEADERSHIP gathered that a similar incident occurred last week when suspected bandits opened fire on a commuter Hiace bus near Gadan-Malam along the same highway and whisked travellers on board into the bush.

Meanwhile, when the spokesman of the Kaduna State police command, DSP Mansir Hassan was contacted through his mobile phone, the number was not reachable at the time of filing this report.
