A new culinary gem has landed in Toronto’s vibrant High Park neighbourhood, as Greelz on Bloor opens its doors, introducing the bold, smoky flavours of Nigerian street food to the city’s diverse food scene.

Founded by chef and entrepreneur, Tolu Okojie, affectionately known as Chef TEE, Greelz on Bloor is the latest venture from Greelz Inc., a brand celebrated for its innovative take on Afro-fusion cuisine.

Located on the bustling Bloor West strip, Greelz on Bloor is serving up Nigerian classics with a modern twist, making the rich culinary heritage of Nigeria accessible to all.

The menu features beloved dishes like beef suya, a smoky, spice-rubbed grilled meat and jollof rice, reimagined in familiar formats such as suya wraps, Agege suya burgers, and bowls. This fusion of tradition and innovation invites both seasoned fans of African cuisine and curious newcomers to explore Nigeria’s vibrant food culture.

Okojie said, “What began as a passion project has grown into something far bigger. Greelz on Bloor is about telling stories through food. Every beef suya, every Agege suya burger, every suya wrap reflects my journey from Lagos to Toronto, and my mission to bridge cultures through flavor, innovation, and community.”

The restaurant offers a menu that pairs traditional Nigerian dishes such as smoky jollof rice and beef suya with globally familiar formats like burgers, wraps, and bowls. This accessible yet authentic approach makes Greelz a unique destination for both longtime lovers of African cuisine and those discovering it for the first time.

Located in the dynamic Bloor West strip, the restaurant embodies the eclectic, community-oriented spirit of the neighbourhood. Beyond food, Okojie envisions Greelz as a platform for collaboration, hosting community events, supporting local creatives, and fostering a sense of belonging.

Despite the challenges of launching an independent restaurant, Okojie credits persistence, community support, and a clear vision for making Greelz on Bloor a reality. Looking ahead, he sees this flagship location as the foundation for national and international expansion, with plans for more restaurants, pop-ups, and cross-cultural collaborations.

Greelz on Bloor is not only elevating Nigerian street food in Canada but also inspiring immigrant entrepreneurs to embrace their heritage as a pathway to success.
