Bandits on Thursday night attacked Inkirmi Iri community in Kajuru local government area of Kaduna State, killing one person, injuring four others and abducting 11 residents.
The attack, which occurred at about 11:37pm on February 27, 2026, also saw the assailants rustle 21 cattle belonging to members of the community.
The deceased, identified as Bitrus Stephen, was reportedly killed on the spot during the invasion.
Those abducted include Cletus Benjamin, Rahila Benjamin, Daniel Livinus, Hikima Alexander, Bomboi Andrawus, Jonathan Gideon, Maria Joshua, Joseph Obed, Babiyana Tanimu, Mary Boniface and Suzana Boniface.
Chairman of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Kajuru, Alipiri Adoh, who confirmed the incident, said the attackers stormed the community in large numbers, unleashing violence on residents.
According to him, four persons, Joshua Fidelis, Gabriel Madaki, Boniface John and Safiya Busa sustained injuries in the attack, while Fidelis was rushed to St Gerard’s Hospital and others are receiving treatment at different health facilities.
Adoh further disclosed that the bandits operated for hours without resistance, leaving behind casualties and abducting several villagers.
The Kaduna State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident as at the time of filing this report.
The latest attack has heightened concerns over insecurity in Kajuru and other parts of Kaduna State, where communities continue to grapple with recurring incidents of killings, kidnappings and cattle rustling.
