Rangers International Football Club of Enugu, known as the Flying Antelopes, were held to a goalless draw on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium by visiting Barau FC of Kano.

Despite the stalemate, Rangers maintain their top position in the NPFL league with 55 points.

Rangers’ only significant attempt came in the first half when they appeared to score from a corner kick, but the referee disallowed the goal. Subsequent efforts to secure all three points proved fruitless for Rangers, and the match concluded goalless.

The game was delayed for several minutes in the first half following a dispute over the removal of Barau General Manager, Dominic Iorfa, from the bench.

Speaking to journalists after the match, Barau Coach, Eugene Agagbe, expressed his satisfaction with the result. He stated that playing Rangers was a considerable challenge and that their delay tactics were a deliberate strategy to outmanoeuvre their opponents, adding that his players followed instructions.

“If I can’t get the three points, I can at least get a draw,” he remarked.

Rangers’ technical adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu, visibly disappointed with the outcome, stated that they would prepare diligently for their remaining fixtures to stay at the top of the league.
