The Bauchi State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA) has announced new measures aimed at improving infrastructure and advancing the state government’s urban renewal agenda.

The director-general of the Agency, Engineer Abdulrahman Mai Auduga, disclosed this while speaking on the live phone-in programme ahead of the forthcoming Economic Summit in the state capital.

He appealed to citizens, particularly politicians, to take down unnecessary billboards across major locations in Bauchi metropolis as part of regulatory cleanup initiatives designed to tackle unauthorised structures.

According to him, the action is in line with the state government’s commitment to creating a clean, orderly, and visually appealing environment across Bauchi State.

He stressed that compliance is crucial in ensuring a well-regulated and aesthetically pleasing urban landscape.

Mai Auduga further warned that illegal or unapproved structures would face strict enforcement measures. He urged billboard operators and owners always to seek proper approval and follow due process to avoid penalties.

Also speaking on the programme, the managing director of the Bauchi State Physical Planning and Control Board, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed, emphasised the need for a change in the public’s attitude towards physical planning.

He explained that adopting modern planning practices and sustained public education would help consolidate new habits that promote urban orderliness.
