Popular Nigerian comedian Basketmouth has advised his compatriots to prioritise their personal safety and survival, stating that individual lives are far more valuable than temporary social media attention.

The entertainer shared this perspective on his Instagram story on Sunday, July 5, 2026. He explained that staying alive should take precedence over online trends, which often fade within a few days as the public moves on to other topics.

“Whatever you do in this life, don’t die for Nigeria. You are more valuable alive than as a trending hashtag,” he wrote. He added that such hashtags remain relevant only for a short time.
