BATOGD Movement Empowers Over 4,000 Constituents

The Senator representing Ogun-East Senatorial District, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, through his group, has empowered residents of Ijebu North-East Local Government with livelihood tools while renewing his call to create Ijebu-Remo State.

The event, held at Equity Hotel and Suites, Ijebu-Ode, under the BATOGD Initiative Movement, saw beneficiaries receive generators, motorcycles, sewing machines, and other equipment to boost enterprise and household incomes.

Speaking at the event, Daniel said the empowerment drive was part of his ongoing effort to keep governance people-focused.

“We must continue to tour our local governments, assess progress and identify what is next for our people”, stressing that over a thousand constituents have benefited from previous programmes.

Turning to the issue of state creation, the former Ogun State governor reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the Ijebu-Remo State project, which he described as long overdue.

“Ijebu remains one of the old provinces yet to gain statehood. Ijebu-Remo State is a must; with unity, we will achieve it,” he declared.

The senator also urged cooperation from the Ogun State government, warning that petty politics must not be allowed to short-change the people of the district.

Commenting on the level of road infrastructure across the state, Daniel appealed to the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration to urgently assist the Ijebu North East Local Government in rehabilitating 11 “critical roads” that have, over the centuries, added great importance and economic value to the people of Ogun East Senatorial District in general.

He specifically pleaded with the Abiodun administration to urgently pity the plight of the indigenes and residents of the Ijebu North East Local Government over the deplorable conditions of 11 “most important roads,” which he said are central to the council’s economic and social well-being.
