Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj and fixed an initial deposit of N7 million for intending pilgrims.

The board’s executive secretary, Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris, disclosed this at a press conference held at the agency’s headquarters in Bauchi yesterday.

He said the registration and collection of hajj deposits had commenced and would close on September 25, 2026.

Idris said visa processing for the 2027 Hajj will end on January 28, 2027, while the airlift of the pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will start on April 8, 2027.

He urged intending pilgrims, hajj officials and Islamic scholars to intensify public enlightenment on the approved timetable to enable the prospective pilgrims complete their registration before the deadline.

The executive secretary also advised intending pilgrims making payments through their respective local government areas, Ja’iz Bank or directly to the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board to ensure prompt payment of their deposits.

Idris explained that although the board had fixed the initial deposit at N7 million, it would also accept a minimum payment of N4 million from the intending pilgrims pending the announcement of the final and official hajj fare by the appropriate authorities.

He assured pilgrims who paid for the 2026 hajj but were unable to travel to Saudi Arabia that they would be given priority consideration for the 2027 pilgrimage.

Idris warned members of the public against entrusting money to individuals who are not officials of the board under the guise of facilitating hajj, stressing that anyone found engaging in such illegal activities would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
