The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has dismissed one Adamu A. Mohammed, a higher executive officer, for gross misconduct and dereliction of duty.
A statement issued by the Commission’s Information Officer, Saleh Umar, revealed that the decision was reached during the Commission’s 40th plenary session held on Tuesday.
The decision, according to the statement, aligned with the Commission’s ongoing efforts to sanitise the civil service, enhance productivity, and improve service delivery across the State.
The Commission said it found Adamu Mohammed guilty of absenting himself from duty without official permission for over a year and refusing to accept his posting, acts that contravene the Bauchi State Public Service Rules and Regulations 0327 (a) and (v), as well as 0312 (xiii).
The commission also demoted one Isa Sani, a Principal Confidential Secretary from Grade Level 12 to Grade Level 10 for absenting himself from work under the pretence of ill-health for more than six months.
Sani was also surcharged to refund salaries received during his period of absence from work. His conduct, according to the commission, violated Public Service Rules 0327 (a) and 0312 (v).
At the same sitting, the Commission formalised the promotion of 23 substantive Directors on Grade Level 16 across various cadres, including the departments of Finance, Accounts, and Education.
It also ratified the transfer of service of Sa’idu Muhammad, Education Officer I, to Aliko Dangote College of Nursing Science as a Lecturer on Grade Level 15, and Rashida Adamu Bulkachuwa, Principal Executive Officer I (GL 12), to the Special School Management Board as Principal Assistant Education Officer I, in accordance with approvals of the State governor, Bala Mohammed.
The Commission also approved the advancement of 13 Land Officers to their next grades.
Speaking during the plenary session, the chairman of the Commission, Dr. Ibrahim A. Muhammad, urged civil servants in the state to take their duties seriously, warning that the government would not tolerate laxity in the public service.
Dr. Muhammad emphasised that the disciplinary measures were taken strictly in line with Public Service Rules after all due processes were exhausted, stressing that the move was part of the Commission’s strategy to ensure discipline, integrity, and efficiency within the Bauchi State workforce.
He further highlighted the importance of consistent attendance and commitment to duty, warning civil servants against unnecessary absenteeism.
The chairman congratulated all officers who were promoted, transferred, or advanced, and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to fostering a productive and accountable public service for the progress of Bauchi State.
