The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (BASUBEB) has organised a training workshop for 20 local government Education Management Information System (EMIS) Officers to enhance data management capacity within the state’s basic education sector.

The director of Planning, Research and Statistics at the board, Alhaji Ilyasu Buba, explained that the Basic Education Management Information System is a comprehensive digital platform developed by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to revolutionise how education data is collected, organised, analysed, and reported across Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement issued by the BASUBEB public relations officer, Isah Mohammed Jungudo.

He stated this at the opening of a ‘Train-the-Trainers’ workshop held at the SUBEB Conference Hall,

Bauchi, yesterday. Buba noted that EMIS serves as a centralised hub for managing educational information covering Early Childhood Care, Development and Education (ECCDE) up to Junior Secondary Schools across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Buba, represented by the EMIS officer of Bauchi SUBEB, Malam Hamisu Aminu Ibrahim, emphasised that the purpose of the workshop was to equip participants with modern techniques and tools for effective data management in the basic education sub-sector.

He urged them to give the training their full attention and ensure the knowledge gained is transferred to their colleagues at the local government level to achieve the desired objectives.

Alhaji Buba further called on participants to demonstrate a high level of ICT professionalism in carrying out their responsibilities.

In a vote of thanks on behalf of the participants, Malam Ibrahim Mijinyawa from Toro and Mrs Hauwa Gadzama from Warji Local Government Areas expressed appreciation to SUBEB and UBEC for organising the training, which they described as timely and impactful.

They pledged to cascade the knowledge gained to their subordinates at the local government level. Highlights of the event included the distribution of laptop computers and data collection forms to the participants.
