Bauchi Gov Swears In Chiroma As Zaki LG Chairman

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has urged the new chairman of Zaki local government area, Ibrahim Chiroma, to remain committed to protecting lives and property and to work towards improving the welfare of residents of the area.

Chiroma, who was the deputy chairman of the council, assumed office following the death of the elected chairman, Mallam Mas’ud Aliyu Umar, in a fatal road accident.

The late chairman died in a road crash on Sunday, October 3, 2026, at Konkiyal Village in Darazo local government area while returning from a political meeting in Bauchi. His death occurred barely three months after his election.

Governor  Mohammed spoke  through his deputy, Muhammad Auwal Jatau, who represented him at the swearing-in ceremony of Chiroma.

Congratulating the new chairman, the governor described his late predecessor as a loyal, committed and dependable team player whose contributions significantly advanced the political activities of the party.

He expressed sadness over the loss, noting that although death was inevitable, the passing of a committed political associate remained painful.

“It is natural that we must all depart this world one day. However, the death of one of our own, a great, loyal and committed team player who contributed immensely to moving our political team forward, is a painful loss,” he said.

The governor prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and urged the new chairman to sustain the values of loyalty, commitment and responsible leadership.

He noted that Chiroma’s emergence as chairman was influenced by his previous conduct and dedication, stressing that his future in leadership would largely depend on how he relates with the people entrusted to his care.

He also called on the new chairman to maintain cordial relationships with other party stakeholders and work collectively towards the electoral success of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) at all levels.
