Bauchi government has approved the increment of the minimum pension from N12,000 to N32,000 for retirees to improve their socio-economic wellbeing.

LEADERSHIP reports that the newly approved minimum pension saw an increment of about N19,000. However, the government did not give a specific timeframe for implementing the new minimum pension in the state.

The head of Civil Service, Barr. Sani Umar, disclosed this to journalists after a session of the Bauchi State Executive Council at the Exco Chamber.

He explained that the increment came as a result of the recent increment in the minimum wage for Civil Servants in the Nation and Bauchi, inclusive, adding that the implementation process will follow the same procedure as enshrined in civil service rules.
