The Bauchi state government has awarded contracts worth N3.4billion for the provision of infrastructure for its ongoing housing projects such as roads, electricity and water schemes being constructed in the emirate areas of the state.
This was disclosed by the state commissioner for Housing and Environment, Hon. Hamish Mu’azu Shira, after the valedictory session of State Executive Council presided over by Governor Bala Mohammed. Shira said, “Initially when we took a loan of N12 billion to build the houses, infrastructure, apart from Bauchi was not in other five sites of the project.”
He said some of the housing estates had been completed and handed over to his ministry, stressing however that there is no way they could commission and allocate the houses without securing them against vandals and for the safety of the occupants.
“So we applied for the additional N5 billion, unfortunately only N3.4billiom was approved by the Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL),” he said.
