The South South Youth Assembly has advocated for the North West to produce the next senate president.

The group rejected the position noting that political office holders from the South South have not brought any benefit to the region.

President of the assembly, Comrade Emmanuel Nkpubre in a statement yesterday, canvassed for former Zamfara State governor Abdulaziz Yari to occupy the position.

APC had zoned the highest legislative seat to South South zone and specifically to former Akwa Ibom State governor Godswill Akpabio.

However, following protests by other aspirants, the APC national chairman, Sen Abdullahi Adamu, assured the party would revisit the zoning arrangement it made.

But the group said since the nation transmuted to democracy, the South South, South East and North Central had occupied the position, except the North West, which overtime had contributed majority votes.

It noted that from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) records, the North West contributed the majority votes that help Ahmed Bola Tinubu to win the presidency.

It said this is the time to look inward for somebody who has the capacity to deliver what has been lacking in the country.

The group also said that Yari is capable and would partner the president-elect to help the region to fight for resource control.
