The Bauchi State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA) has launched its Zero-Pothole Initiative in Azare, Katagum local government area, signalling a renewed commitment by the Bauchi State Government to tackle widespread road deterioration and improve transportation networks.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the director-general of BASIDMA, Engr. Abdulrahman Maiauduga, said the initiative will prioritise roads experiencing structural defects, particularly those classified under the TT system.
He explained that the programme is designed to ensure smoother, safer and more reliable routes for both motorists and pedestrians.
Engr. Maiauduga emphasised that the rehabilitation effort is a critical component of the government’s wider strategy to reduce road accidents, ease mobility within communities, and enhance access to essential services across both urban and rural areas of the state.
He further stated that BASIDMA will scale up its monitoring of deteriorating roads in towns and local government areas to guarantee timely and efficient repairs. According to him, the initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to proactive and responsive management of public infrastructure.
The director-general added that the Zero-Pothole Initiative is expected to significantly improve living conditions in Azare and other parts of the state.
He assured residents that the agency remains dedicated to building durable road networks, boosting economic activities, and supporting safer mobility for all.
