Sokoto State Government has launched a solar power plant at the Sokoto State Water Board, aimed at addressing power challenges affecting water supply in Sokoto metropolis.
Sokoto State Commissioner for Petroleum and Energy Resources, Sanusi Ibrahim Dan Fulani, stated this during an inspection of the ongoing 4.2-megawatt solar energy plant at the water board agency.
“This project is one of the many efforts of Governor Ahmad Aliyu towards improving the welfare and well-being of the people,” Dan Fulani said.
General manager of the Sokoto State Water Board, Engineer Aminu Haruna Mika’ilu, said the project will solve power challenges in pumping potable water to Sokoto metropolis when completed.
Meanwhile, residents of Gwadabawa local government area and parts of Sokoto East Senatorial District have been urged to pay their electricity bills to ensure continuity of power supply.
Dan Fulani made the appeal during the inspection of the ongoing re-electrification project in Sokoto East Senatorial District, executed by Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s administration.
Some residents of Gwadabawa expressed gratitude for the state government’s efforts in restoring power supply to the area.
