Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has promoted 79 staff for excellent performance and suspended six from the state service for alleged misconduct and theft.

The commission considered the appointment of an acting deputy director (Planning) from the rank of chief planning officer and promoted 79 deserving officers, converted three to full employment in environmental health and executive cadres from the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) and the State Drugs Consumables Management Agency.

The suspended workers were alleged to have either sold or converted government property worth millions of Naira which were removed from the sites of the ongoing construction of flyovers at Wunti and Central Market within Bauchi metropolis.

The acts contravened Section 327 of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations which regards such acts as serious wrongdoing and improper behaviour.

A statement yesterday by the commission’s public relations officer, Saleh Umar, said the commission suspended them under Section 331 of the State Public Service Regulations to allow the relevant authorities to investigate the reported crime.

The affected staff of the State Ministry of Works and Transport attached to the State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA) include, Mohammed Musa Saye (chief store officer), Ado Abba Pali (senior technical officer), Danladi Noma (senior fireman), Garba Nuhu (senior works superintendent), Ibrahim Inuwa (technical assistant, Electrical) and Uzairu Mudi, also a technical assistant (Electrical).

He said the commission considered the suspension during its valedictory sitting, the 41st plenary session on Thursday while their suspension took effect from November 14, 2024.

Also during the sitting, two Nursing officers, Rakiya Musa and Ibrahim Muhammad Lawan, were reinstated into the state civil service.

The commission also ordered the management of the Bauchi Radio Corporation to resubmit authentic recommendations of senior staff promotion which must include a petitioner, Bashir Idris, who was sidelined by the Radio House.
