Bauchi State government has announced that plans are in top gear to conclude the process of renaming the State University, Gadau to Sa’adu Zungur University, SAZUG to immobilize the late educationist.
The vice chancellor of the university, Professor Fatimah Tahir, disclosed this while granting audiences to the family of the late Malam Sa’adu Zungur led by the village head of Zungur Alhaji Sa’id Hamid Bello in her office in Yuli Campus in Bauchi for a courtesy visit.
Tahir explained that the delay was due to procedures that involve seeking the approval of relevant bodies as well as the governing council of the University.
While assuring the support of the University management to the delegation, Professor Tahir explained that the contribution of the late Zungur to the development of education in the state and the entire northern states can never be forgotten.
Earlier, the village head of Zungur Alhaji Said Hamid Bello said they were at the University to congratulate the VC for her well-deserved appointment and to remind the school management of the renaming of the University to Sa’adu Zungur University.
Chairman of the forum Dr Hamid Bello solicited the support of the university in the area of admission and employment to the members of the late Sa’adu Zungur Family.
Our correspondent reports that the Bauchi state House of Assembly has finalized legislative work on the need to rename the university and has been assented to by Governor Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir.
