Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has issued the statutory 60-day notice to registered political parties, stakeholders and the general public ahead of the local government elections scheduled for 17th August, 2026.

The notice was contained in a statement issued yesterday by the commission’s secretary, Nuru Abdulhamid, on behalf of the chairperson of BASIEC.

The commission explained that the notice was issued in compliance with the provisions of the Bauchi State Electoral Law on council elections.

Abdulhamid recalled that BASIEC had earlier issued a 360-day notice in August 2025, in line with legal requirements, to enable political parties and other stakeholders to make adequate preparations for the elections.”

“The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), in compliance with the Bauchi State Electoral Law, hereby issues a 60-day notice to all registered political parties, stakeholders, and the general public for the conduct of local government council elections scheduled to hold on 17th August, 2026, in Bauchi State,” he said.

BASIEC advised all political parties intending to participate in the elections to conclude their internal processes and to strictly comply with the Commission’s guidelines and the relevant provisions of the Electoral Law.
