The Bauchi State Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives has declared solidarity with Governor Bala Mohammed amid what it described as spurious and unfounded allegations over his links to terrorism.

In a statement yesterday in Bauchi, the caucus said while the matter is in court, Nigerians will recall the governor’s consistent record of prioritising the security, stability and development of Bauchi State.

“While the matter is sub judice and we will not engage in conjecture or media trial, it is important to underscore the undeniable record of Governor Bala Mohammed as a leader who has consistently placed the safety and progress of Bauchi State above all else,” the statement said.

The statement was signed by seven members of the Bauchi PDP Caucus in the House of Representatives: Hon. Aliyu Aminu Garu (Bauchi Federal Constituency FC), Hon. Mansur Manu Soro (Darazo/Ganjuwa FC), Hon. Auwalu Gwalabe (Katagum FC), Hon. Adamu Hashimu Ranga (Ningi/Warji FC), Hon. Mohammed Dan Abba Shehu (Zaki FC), Hon. Bappa Aliyu Misau (Misau/Dambam FC), and Hon. Sani Ibrahim Tanko (Shira/Giade FC).

The caucus said Governor Mohammed has, over the past six years, curtailed the activities of bandits in Bauchi State despite security pressures arising from its proximity to banditry-affected states such as Zamfara and Katsina.

“At a time when insecurity has displaced populations across the North-West and other parts of the country, Bauchi State has remained relatively safe and a place of refuge, owing to purposeful leadership and decisive governance,” the caucus noted.

The lawmakers further stressed that Bauchi State, though geographically located in the North-East, has remained free from Boko Haram insurgency throughout Governor Mohammed’s tenure.

“This achievement did not occur by accident. It is the outcome of deliberate policies, effective collaboration with security agencies, and a firm resolve by the governor to deny terrorists and criminal elements any foothold in the state,” the statement added.

The caucus described allegations linking the governor to terrorism financing as illogical and inconsistent with the lived realities of the people of Bauchi State.

“A governor who has consistently denied terrorists breathing space, protected communities and sustained peace cannot, by any stretch of logic, be branded a terrorism financier,” it said.

Beyond security, the caucus highlighted what it described as unprecedented achievements under Governor Mohammed in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and social development over the past six years.

“These accomplishments speak louder than politically motivated narratives and clearly demonstrate the governor’s commitment to good governance and people-oriented leadership,” the statement said.

They urged Nigerians to remain calm and discerning and appealed to the public to respect due process and allow the truth to emerge through lawful means.

“We are confident that Governor Bala Mohammed’s integrity, track record and service to Bauchi State will ultimately stand vindicated,” the caucus stated.
