The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects for criminal conspiracy, theft and possession of stolen property.
According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the arrest followed a tip-off from a concerned citizen on November 1, 2025.
Wakil, in a statement over the weekend, said the concerned citizen had alerted the Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters after two unknown men approached him at his garage in Kari village.
According to the statement, the citizen said the men asked about motorcycle dealers while displaying suspicious behavior. The duo, both riding red Boxer Bajaj motorcycles, prompted immediate police action.
“A team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Auwalu Ilu, swiftly moved to the location and apprehended the suspects.
‘They were later identified as 25-year-old Nura Yau and 25-year-old Bayero Isah, both residents of Akuyam village in Misau local government area.”
During interrogation, Wakil revealed that the suspects confessed to stealing the motorcycles from different locations, including Akuyam village on September 30, 2025, and from a Juma’at Mosque in Darazo town.
Police further investigation confirmed that Auwal Adamu, a 50-year-old is the rightful owner of one of the stolen motorcycles recovered by the police.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a detailed investigation and prosecution.
While commending the public for their vigilance, CP Aliyu urged residents to continue reporting suspicious activities to security agencies, emphasising that prevention is better than cure.
