Bauchi Police Get New Spokesperson

A Superintendent of Police, Nafiu Habib, has assumed duty as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Bauchi State Police Command.

SP Habib took over from the outgoing spokesperson of the Command, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, a chief superintendent of police, at a formal handover ceremony.

Habib pledged to strengthen the relationship between the police and the public through credible communication, effective information management, and community-oriented policing strategies.

He also assured residents of Bauchi State of his commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, transparency, and responsiveness in line with global best practices.

The appointment of the new PPRO was announced in a statement by CSP Wakil, where he described SP Habib as a seasoned and versatile police officer with over sixteen (16) years of professional experience across operational, administrative, and strategic communication roles within the Nigeria Police Force.

The new PPRO is an alumnus of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Conflict and Security Studies.

He also holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Criminology and Security Studies from the National Open University of Nigeria.

SP Habib completed the Cadet Inspector of Police Course 38/2009 at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano.

In the course of his career, he has served in various capacities nationwide, including as the Police Public Relations Officer at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil; Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State Command; Managing Editor of the NPA News Bulletin (2021 and 2022); Resource Person and Lecturer on misconduct and professional ethics for cadet officers; Desk Officer at the Public Complaint Bureau; Officer-in-Charge of the Research and Planning Department; and Divisional Traffic Officer at Rigasa and Kakuri Divisions.

Other postings include Unit Commander, No.1 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron attached to the Government House, Kaduna; Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command; and Confidential Secretary in the Department of Operations, Imo State Command.

Habib is a Fellow of the Forensic Investigators’ Society of Nigeria (FISN) and an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (ANIPR).

He has also attended several specialised courses and trainings, including United Nations Peacekeeping Operations, Public Relations Workshops, Crime Scene Management, Forensic Investigation, Humanitarian Law Enforcement Standards, and Leadership Training.

The Bauchi State Police Command called on members of the public, the media, and other critical stakeholders to extend their usual cooperation and support to the new PPRO as he discharges his duties.
