Police in Bauchi State have arrested a 37-year-old man, Alex Amusu, a resident of Yelwan Tsakani, for allegedly raping his girlfriend’s nine-year-old daughter.

Patience Danladi, a 36-year-old resident of Tambari Housing Estate, reported the case to the police after noticing unusual behavior in her niece, Grace.

After noticing unusual signs, she discovered that the girl had been sexually assaulted by Amusu.

In a statement issued yesterday, the command’s spokesman, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed that operatives dispatched a detective team to the area, leading to Amusu’s arrest.

Wakil disclosed that the victim received medical care at Bayara General Hospital and that Amusu confessed to the crime during interrogation.

“Investigations are ongoing, and upon completion, the suspect will be properly profiled and charged to ensure justice is served,” Wakil said.
