House of Representatives member representing the Ganjuwa-Darazo federal constituency in Bauchi State, Mansur Manu Soro, has presented a cheque in the sum of N26 million to deserving students from his constituency.
According to a statement issued by the director general of new media to the lawmaker, Aleeyu Darazo, yesterday, he said the beneficiaries who were credited through their bank accounts with a sum of N40,000 each were selected following an online application process.
Other beneficiaries include students and pupils of tuition and kit-free special primary and gifted secondary schools established by Mansur Manu Soro at Lanzai, Soro, Sade, Darazo and Kafin Madaki who are to receive N10,000 each.
Aleeyu said, “Since the year 2020, Hon Mansu Manu Soro has remained consistent in facilitating grants to students of his constituency annually, viz a viz; N10m (2020), 21 million (2021), 20 Million (2022), 20 Million (2023) and N26 Million (2024).”
In another development, Hon. Soro also inspected the 1st- batch of 100 units of solar irrigation pumps procured by Darazo-Ganjuwa Agricultural Commodity Marketing Company (DAGACOM).
He said the procurement of the solar irrigation pumps by DAGACOM is coming at a time when dry season farmers are struggling to use petrol-led irrigation pumps due to high costs of lubricant and petrol.
Mansur Manu directed that 40 per cent subsidy be applied and the solar pump be sold to farmers residing in Darazo-Ganjuwa federal constituency at the cost of N250,000 per unit in place of the market value of N460,000.
According to the statement, interested farmers can visit any of DAGACOM centres in Darazo, Soro, Konkiyel, Sade, Kafin Madaki and Miya to place their orders.
“Established by Hon. Manu Soro June 2024 with a seed capital of N10million, DAGACOM is driving the MMS agricultural blueprint in consonance with the Darazo-Ganjuwa Farm Mechanization Support Initiatives (DAGFAMSI),” Aleeyu said.
Furthermore, Hon. Soro has handed over a new fire fighting truck facilitated by his office to the Government of Bauchi State for deployment in Darazo town.
“Rep. MMS indicated that his objective is to mitigate cases of fire disasters along the Bauchi-Maiduguri, Darazo-Dukku, Darazo- Basirka federal highways and the Darazo general area.
“Mansur remains unwavering in his determination to sustain the gains recorded through his uncommon representation at the National Assembly,” the statement concluded.
