A group, Bauchi Solidarity Alliance (BSA) has denounced the circulation of a “misleading” video on social media of a purported collapsed school building in Toro local government area of Bauchi State.

In a statement issued by its chairman, Sani Dankande Toro, and made available to journalists in Abuja, yesterday, BSA expressed its disappointment at the deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of Bauchi State and its governor, Bala Mohammed through the video.

The group said, “Primarily and fundamentally, it is imperative to elucidate that the configuration depicted in the video does not originate from any of the educational institutions within Bauchi State. Additionally, the vernacular or idiom utilised in the said footage does not align with the customary speech patterns of indigenous Bauchi residents. As conscientious members of society, it is paramount that we do not succumb effortlessly to such erroneous information and fabrications.”

BSA warned those responsible for circulating the misleading video, cautioning them to cease their campaign of calumny or face the consequences of their actions. They made it clear that acts of destabilisation will not be tolerated, and the perpetrators will be held accountable.

BSA indicated a clear resolve to expose individuals aiming to tarnish the reputation of Governor Bala Mohammed and his administration, adding that the perpetrators seek to promote a campaign of calumny designed to sow discord and undermine the progress achieved under Governor Mohammed’s leadership.

Highlighting the significant progress and development achieved under Governor Mohammed’s leadership, especially in infrastructure and education, the BSA emphasised the importance of recognising and celebrating these accomplishments, rather than succumbing to misinformation and negative propaganda.

“The governor has provided the necessary support, investments, and resources to ensure that the education system meets world-class standards. Investments in improved infrastructure, quality learning materials, and enhanced teacher training programmes have been made to enhance the quality of education in the state,” they said.

The BSA called on the people of Bauchi to be discerning in their consumption of information and to avoid falling prey to manipulation by outside sources. They encouraged the community to remain vigilant and rely on credible sources of information to avoid being misled by malicious agendas.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the BSA remains steadfast in their support of Governor Bala Mohammed and his administration. We are committed to defending the integrity of Bauchi State and ensuring that progress and development continue to flourish. The group’s strong condemnation of the mischievous video serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding truth and transparency in public discourse.

“As responsible citizens, we must not allow ourselves to be swayed by sensationalized videos or inflammatory rhetoric. We must demand accountability from those who seek to undermine our collective efforts towards a better, more prosperous Bauchi. Let us reject division and embrace unity as we work together to build a brighter future for all residents of Bauchi State,” Toro said.
