Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Suleiman, has said strengthening technical and vocational education is essential for sustainable socio-economic transformation.

He made the remark in his goodwill message at the 1st International Conference organised by the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP), Bauchi Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP). The conference was held under the theme: “Remodelling the Economy for Sustainable Devel

Commending both ASUP and the Polytechnic management, Suleiman described the conference as timely and relevant, noting that education remains the backbone of economic growth. He stressed that no economy can thrive sustainably without a skilled, innovative, and productive workforce.

“The role of Polytechnic education is critical in bridging the gap between theory and practice. It equips our youth with technical and entrepreneurial skills that promote self-reliance, job creation, and industrial growth. Strengthening technical and vocational education in Bauchi and across Nigeria is not optional, it is necessary for sustainable transformation,” he said.

The speaker also lauded Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his visionary leadership and commitment to state development.

He highlighted notable progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and social welfare under the Governor’s administration.

Suleiman assured continued support through policies, legislation, and oversight to enhance quality education, staff development, infrastructure, and adequate funding for institutions.
