The Bayelsa State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that no amount of political inducement or financial incentives would derail its ambition to take over governance of the state in the 2027 elections.

The party’s State Chairman, Hon. Dauprebo Ikuromo, made the assertion while addressing journalists in Yenagoa, amid reports of attempts to lure some NDC aspirants away from the party.

According to Ikuromo, the party remains focused on its mission of providing an alternative leadership for Bayelsa and would not be distracted by alleged efforts aimed at creating divisions within its ranks.

“No form of inducement can divert the NDC from its objective of assuming leadership in Bayelsa State,” he said.

He called on Governor Douye diri and the state government to channel resources toward addressing pressing developmental challenges rather than engaging in political maneuvers.

The NDC chairman specifically urged the government to focus attention on critical infrastructure projects, including the issue of gas turbines that have reportedly been commissioned but are yet to become operational.

Ikuromo also advised Governor Diri to embrace a more inclusive style of governance that prioritizes the welfare of Bayelsans, economic growth and sustainable development above partisan interests.

Addressing concerns over alleged discontent within the party following its primaries, the NDC chairman said the party had established a comprehensive grievance resolution mechanism under the leadership of former Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson.

He assured party members that the National Executive Council would release the final list of candidates for various elective positions within the timetable stipulated by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Ikuromo further commended Dickson, the party’s national leader, for what he described as his fair and transparent handling of the party’s primary election process across the country.

He said Dickson demonstrated wisdom and impartiality in managing the primaries, ensuring that all aspirants were given equal opportunities to contest.

The Bayelsa NDC also praised the former governor for promoting the participation of young people and women in the party’s affairs, noting that the initiative aligns with affirmative action principles and strengthens internal democracy.

The party chairman subsequently urged members and supporters across the state to remain united and committed to the party’s goal of taking over power in Bayelsa in 2027.

According to him, the NDC is determined to offer what he described as a credible alternative to the current administration and remains confident of securing victory at the polls.
