The election of Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo as the next governor of Kogi State will bode well for the economic diversification of the state economy through solid minerals, according to a mining engineer and solid minerals professional, Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf.

Yusuf, who is the senior special assistant on Mineral Resources to governor Yahaya Bello, said yesterday that he was confident in the ability of the governor–elect to consolidate the achievements of the Yahaya Bello administration, adding that the government was already harnessing the solid mineral potential of the state for economic diversification leading to the creation of wealth and jobs.

“I believe that the incoming government will consolidate and continue the achievements of our leader, the outgoing governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.

“I’m confident that the incoming administration will continue the focus of government on solid minerals development, which will lead to the full realisation of the economic diversification of Kogi State,” a quest, he said, will create multiple jobs and wealth along the solid mineral industry value chain.

Yusuf, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) assured the people of the state that they had made a good choice in electing Usman Ododo and that his government would strengthen the delivery of good governance and dividends of democracy to the people of Kogi State.

“I congratulate our governor-elect, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, and I also thank my ward, which comprises Osisi/Ipaku/Inoziomi, and my local government, Adavi LGA, for voting massively for him, and for their support throughout the campaign,” said Yusuf.

He also lauded governor Yahaya Bello for strengthening the unity of the Kogi APC as well as providing credible leadership, which he pointed out, was a key factor that won victory for the party in the state.
