Tragedy struck at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) in Edo State at the weekend following the shooting of a 400-level student by suspected cultists, causing panic in the University community.
A viral video shows the lifeless body of the victim said to be in Physical Sciences Department as he was being carried into a Hilux van by security personnel of the institution.
The incident led to pandemonium across the entire University community as students, staff and visitors to the University ran for their dear lives as sound of gunshots rented the air.
It was gathered that the sad incident may not be unconnected to cultism.
The victim’s remains were said to be deposited in an undisclosed mortuary.
As at the time of filing this report on Saturday evening, the University authorities were yet to react to the incident.
