Beyoncé Sued Over Alleged Unauthorized Sample On ‘Renaissance’ Album

American singer Beyoncé has been sued over the alleged unauthorised use of a music sample on her track “Alien Superstar” from her 2022 album, Renaissance.

According to court documents filed by Hirose Enterprise and producer Shuji Hirose, the lawsuit accuses the singer and her affiliated music labels of copyright infringement.

The plaintiffs claim to hold the rights to a track titled “Moonraker,” performed by artist John Holiday. They allege that Beyoncé’s team used a spoken-word introduction from the song without obtaining proper licensing prior to the album’s release.

The lawsuit further states that while a license was secured after the release from the performer, Holiday had previously transferred his rights to the song to Hirose Enterprise. The company is seeking an injunction to halt further sales and is requesting unspecified financial damages.
