The Filipino Girl group BINI made history recently at the star-studded Coachella music festival, becoming the first act from the Philippines to perform.
The eight-member outfit, comprising Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna and Sheena, is recognised as the nation’s girl group in the Philippines. They came into the limelight through their tropical pop single, “Pantropiko,” which went viral.
BINI made their launch at Coachella on the Mojave stage, performing for almost an hour, featuring many of the group’s songs that had achieved huge success.
The girls put on a show, tearing off their gold dresses during the opening of the song “Shagidi” to reveal blue-turquoise beaded costumes they wore for the rest of the performance.
Introducing themselves, the group shouted in unison to the crowd, “We are BINI, all the way from the Philippines!”
Aiah said to the crowd, “We are so happy to be here to represent the Philippines on the global stage and to share with you guys our music.”
The group has continued to bring Pinoy pop, also known as P-pop, to the international stage since launching in 2020. ABS-CBN’s series Star Hunt Academy established the group.
